Walking Sticks

One of the most popular forms of walking aids, the Walking Stick, is designed to offer an affordable, portable and lightweight method of support while walking.

Available in a range of styles and designs including;

  • Folding Walking Sticks, which have the added convenience of collapsing down to fit inside a small bag or handbag.
  • Quad Walking Sticks, which feature four feet for added stability.

Walking Frames / Zimmer Frames

Probably one of the most recognisable forms of Walking Aid are Walking Frames, also known as Zimmer Frames.

These traditional mobility aids usually take the shape of a basic Walking Frame to assist the user in moving around the home. They can be supplied with or without wheels, depending on preference.

Walking Frames and Zimmer Frames are typically available in a range of sizes to suit both height and build of the user. As ever, to avoid bad posture, its important to try a Walking Frame to make sure it is the correct size.

With some models, a handy basket can be fitted to the frame for the storage of personal belongings such as a hand bag, remote control, telephone or magazine etc, enabling added freedom for the user around the home.

Rollators

Rollators provide a sturdy and practical Walking Aid for around the home, and while out and about. Being a wheeled design, they glide effortlessly over almost any surface.

Available with three or four wheels, Rollator’s fold down for easy storage in the house, or to fit in the car. They are equipped with hand operated brakes to provide added security, allowing the user to slow the movement if they feel uncomfortable with the speed at which they are walking. The brakes can also usually be locked on, forming a handbrake for parking the Rollator on public transport or if left on a slope.

Four wheeled Rollators may also have the added benefit of a seat and storage bag, enabling the user to take a rest if needed.

Its worth considering that three wheeled Rollators are much more suited to around the home, as they take up less space, and easier to maneuve around the limited confines of a home environment. Four wheeled Rollators however, provide much more stability and are more suited to being used outdoors or for anyone who may need to take a break more often, thanks to their built in seat.

Trolley

These practical Trollies are for use around the home, and act as both a Rollator-like walking aid, and a useful way for the user to move their food or other belongings safely from room to room.

With ridged trays for containing whatever is being carried, a Trolley also features comfortable grip handles with locking brakes for added security allowing the user to steady themselves as they walk.

The handle bars can easily be adjust to suit almost any height of user.
